If I could decide between the new and the old, i would take the old graphics. You saw on first look, if your fishers and miners are working, or whether you need more taverns... now, i first has to identify the grew objects on the flag-points, during the workers transport them...

But I think, a way between is possible: The new icons should be more colorfull. Astuur said (and hes right), that realistics fishs arent blue. But if the Widelands-Player see a blue object on the map, he think "oh, thats my fish!". If he see a red, round object, he think "oh my iron! fine!" and not: "aaahm this object is it a fish, a iron ore, a coal or a stone?"

Its the same with the "Hamburgers": No hamburger is so colorfull, but if you see one, you first know, that it is one - and not another item.

Items in Widelands need clear visible properties - if its not the form, it should be the color or the contrast - but it needs one of them - or better, all in a individual mix!

Definitely better visible. face-smile.png It’s the same as before with a brighter blue, right?

Edit: When there is a consens about the new fish icon, will it be used in the fisher’s hut where the old one is now? I like consistency. face-wink.png

Two is the oddest prime.

I have increased the brightness and saturation. And little bit the contrast to compensate the loss caused by the increased brightness.

I like consistency, too. I plan to revisit all of the barbarian buildings. I'll make it a point to freshen the fish when I visit the fisher's house.

Old fish leave a lot to be desired and those have been hanging around for quite some time now. face-smile.png

@fraang - It's good to hear from you again. We have some unfinished business with the barbarian warehouse I think. face-wink.png (EDIT: No, I remember now, that was kingcreole. But YOU are certainly welcome to try your hand at 3D modelling whenever you would like.) :D Cheers!

I'd prefer the second one. All the 'baskets' of this type and purpose I've seen had straight, non-curved walls unlike the first one. However, your 'baskets' seem to have circular diameter which doesn't seem realistic as well.

The shapes may have changed since the times of Rome, but I just took a few photos of my 19th century German baskets, to illustrate what I think these baskets should look like: http://pholia.tdi.informatik.uni-frankfurt.de/~philipp/widelands/baskets

Of Basket Versions 1 and 2, I like #2 better. However, I would like to see what you might do to lighten the color more to that of the examples that I and Philipp have provided. (bolded as links, not as "shouting") face-wink.png

I particularly like the general style of the woven basket with the wide vertical slats in Philipp's photos (great relics, Philipp, even if they are from the 19th century!). I feel our basket wouldn't have to have the shoulder straps of Peter's examples because the carriers hold them over their heads when transporting them.

So, fraang, would you be kind enough to work up some samples along these lines for us to see?

Edit: corrected the century. face-smile.png
