https://wl.widelands.org/news/2014/01/18/update-update-b18/ :

we can go again at testing for another two weeks.(...)

Today me and damondash (he was hosting the game) were playing Widelands. I've noticed few things:

  1. There is no replay file for me
  2. The file (replay) left by widelands can't be opened properly (only one, "2014-01-20T17.23.08 network player 4.wrpl") and game can't see the file
  3. The game's window (gui?) has crashed and didn't response. The game probably was running because I've heard noises and messages sounds. It happen while saving the autosave file.
  4. Now, after CLOSING everything connected to widelands, I have one process (widelands.exe) still running with 50% of processor power.

I am using Windows XP (still) and today downloaded the Widelands' install file from Tino's page (http://widelands.8-schuss.de/)

Sounds bad. Did you look into stdout.txt? I am not surprised that there is no replay if the game crashed that bad. The game should not be able to continue without the GUI though, so this sounds like a really funky problem. Also that the remaining zombie process still takes 50% of CPU is weird - it should either use no cpu or 100%.

If you find something in stdout.txt let us know. Also if you find a stable way to reproduce the problem, that would be even better.

I can't reproduce any of these issues on my VBox-XP with r6284. Saving/loading works, also a replay gets written and it is playable. Perhaps we can get more info from the stdout.txt, as SirVir suggests.

Strange... WHY?

Delete replay 2014-01-20T17.23.08 network player 4.wrpl

Delete replay 2014-01-20T19.24.25 singleplayer.wrpl

Should I give whole stdout.txt?

About zombie process: in Windows most processes can't take more than 50%. First: they need to be multi-thread (2 cores processor) and second: Windows has something like firewall for processes and don't let them take more CPU. (Just to be idiot-safe) So widelands don't need more CPU and Windows don't let it take more face-wink.png (As I can see with all my programs).

It is very hard to reproduce the problems. It happend only few times after bzr6812 (or something like that). Maybe next time I will give all the messages.

Ok, i think this is a bug in widelands. Here it also deletes the savegames from the current day, even when the setting is "Remove replays older than 1 day".

I noticed also that a replay i've copied into the replay folder manually which does not begin with "YYYY-MM-DD..." does not get deleted at all.

Can anyone on linux confirm these issues, or is it win32 specific?

Ok, the deletion of the replays is a mingw bug. I've committed a fix and a merge request.

Today was extremely bug-producing day. Sometimes the widelands make strange bug: the Vine Farmer doesn't go to the Vineyard. HOW? (This bug was noticed before). Restart of the game helps (the restart of whole widelands is not needed, only restart of the play).

lack of Vine Farmers

There are two baskets in the headquaters (Kwatera główna), and the Vinery Farmer is inaccessible (niedostępny) for the Vineyard (Plantacja winorośli).

Almost the same was in the center of play: I did build a port an shipyard, the building was full of resources and the Shipwright was in the building, but he wasn't working (no ships on the sea and 0% of production). Is there a law that if the map has no port spaces (or only one), the Shipwright wouldn't produce ships?

The map: Kings and Queens, ver. 2; play between winXP and MacOS

I am not sure if the new economy problems are regressions by my ship problem fixes - could be, not sure. The not loading crash though is highly annoying and I'd like to investigate that. Could you open a bug report and attach the save game that does not load there?

The vinefarmer does need a basket and a shovel. So I think the problem is not the creation of the vinefarmer, but rather the production of a shovel by your toolsmith. If you have shovels in another warehouse, there might also be a transportation bug that gets resolved when the game gets loaded.

When there are no port spaces on the map, the shipyard does not work. (It should display "No use for ships on this map" when you hover over it. That is at least what it did some months ago.) I am not sure what happens when there is only one port space. I do not know the map; where can I find it?
