Hello people,

after 18 months I got sick of the python version of the metaserver that hosts the games for Widelands. I rewrote it using go instead of python and I hope that this one proves to be easier to maintain and improve. There are already some known bugs, but please post new ones as they show up for you here.

Hi, one question... I can play online game through LAN but i have problem with normal internet playing. Still i got the metaserver error. This is strange because i already use Folding@home and this program using 7396 port also. Same error I got when I disabled Folding@home. I already have three other computers on my home router WR743ND v2, i already installed new firmware on that router. Computer 1 - Ubuntu 12.04.3 LTS 64bit, Computer 2 - Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS 32bit, Computer 3 - Win XP Home 32 bit. Every one machine connected at router had no problem with online gaming for example counter strike and many other games. Just on widelands i got still metaserver error. But when i make an server, other people can see my game just with red X mark. On every computer i have the latest version of widelands. When i try make port forwarding to one ip address from port to an ubuntu machine folding@home not working at XP and also i still got problem with metaserver at ubuntu. I am the small internet provider, all ports at this moment are opened in my whole network. Can somebody help me with this issue?

such issues are really hard to debug over the internet. There are plenty of possible problems, one could be that your provider is using ipv6 for your internet connection. That would mean that port forwarding no longer works. Another is that your computer inside the network could have a firewall too that blocks connections. You might find easier support by going into the IRC chat and asking there. Some people will surely be willing to help you out - you must stick around for a while though, as most people are idling most of the time there (i.e. they do not answer immediately).

Today we have noticed that there is a problem: closed game (game that has already began) is still "open server" (green button).

After a try from any player (try to join a server): only a note "the game already started" (or something like that).

Message for every player in the game:

unknown player

Unknown user have left the game (The game has already started)

Also: problems with font here (https://wl.widelands.org/forum/topic/1290/?page=4)

Thanks for mentioning the problem with the metaserver. I filed a bug for it here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/widelands-metaserver/+bug/1272238 .
