Revision Differences of Revision 12

This page describes the usage of the wiki itself. If you find in an article something wrong, misspelled words, a deadlink or similar, don't be scared of editing. You could allways use the Preview, to examine your changes. If something get totally wrong, you could revert to a previous revision of an article. Helping on the wiki is highly recommended. If you want to make big changes to an existing article, please ask prior in the [Homepage forum](https://wl.widelands.org/forum/forum/11/). ¶

[TOC] ¶

## Main actions ¶
Above each wikipage you see on the right three green links: ¶

* _'Edit this article'_ - This opens the articel in editor mode. You have to be logged in to edit an article. ¶
* _'History'_ - Shows all revisions of this article with the possibility to compare and [revert](/wiki/WikiHelp#reverting_to_a_previous_revision) articles. ¶
* _'Observe'_ - Clicking on this and you will be e-mailed about changes on this article. ¶

## Editing ¶
Checkout the WikiSyntax before you edit an article. There is also a WikiSandbox where you could play around with the syntax. ¶

The editor consists of four rows: ¶

1. _'Title'_ - The Title of the article
. ___Don't change this!___ This field is to be used for renaming articles. If you change this, a redirect from 'OldName' to 'NewName' is created. If 'NewName' allready exists, a double entry in the database is created and every call on 'NewName' triggers an Error!
1. _'Content'_ - This is the place, where the articletext could be editet/insertet ¶
1. _'Page Summary'_ - Mandatory for first revision. This field should reflect the content in short words. Be descriptive as this is shown in the [list of all articles](/wiki/list) ¶
1. _'Comment for this revision'_ - Short description of your changes ¶

After editing use the _'Preview'_ button and examine your edits. If all is ok, press _'Save'_. Clikcking the _'Diff'_ button shows all edits against the last saved revision. ¶

At the bottom is the possibility to upload an image. Please read section [Images](/wiki/WikiHelp#images) of limitations and how it works. ¶

## New articles ¶
To create a new article, you have to be logged in. Now change the webadress in you browser like: ¶

Be sure to create an articlename as in the Example, do not try to name articles like "my new page" (with spaces). Those names are not catched by the Wikiparser and you have to use the syntax for external links to use them in other articles. ¶

The chapter [Editing](/wiki/WikiHelp#editing) explains the fields of the editor. You have to save a new created article befor you could upload images to it. ¶

## Images ¶

You could add images to an article, but keep in mind: ¶

* There is currently no limitation in size! Be sure to upload only pictures that fits in size. Screenshots with a resolution of 1800x1600 are definetly to large. A maximum width of around 600 pixel is appreciated. ¶
* The image will be displayed in the same size as it is. There is NO way to make them displayed smaller. ¶
* Remember that not all picture types are sure to show up for everybody. To be safe use mainly .png, .jpg or similar, as these are most supported. ¶
* Pictures will NOT work for the Wiki if they contain a Space in the filename. ¶
* It is currently not possible for everybody to remove an image once it is uploaded, so only add images you know you need to use! ¶
* A new created article has to be saved before the image-upload works ¶

### Upload ¶

_'Edit this article'_ in the top right hand corner of the article you wish to add the picture to it. ¶

* If it is a new created article, save it first ¶
* Press _'Edit this article'_ ¶
* Add the code written to the right of the image you wish to show where you wish to show it. ¶
