Hello, i have just installed the AppVeyor b19-1362 on a Windows XP 32bits, the game doesn't run. "Le point d'entrée de procédure _putenv_s est introuvable dans la bibliothèque de liasons dynamique msvcrt.dll." Mean something like "procedury entry point _putenv_s not found in the msvcrt.dll library." Top Quote |

Windows XP has state EOL (end of life) and isn't supported anymore, because it would cause huge effort to make widelands working with this OS version. Fight simulator for Widelands: |

Ok, so you confirm what we said months before... cool And, b18 was compatible, so what , you use directx 15 now? Months ago you clearly (but not write like that) said the b19 will be volontary incompatible with Windows XP just because you considerer you are Microsoft... Edited: 2016-11-15, 20:05

No, but we use OpenGL. Build 18 had a deprecated software renderer that was removed in b19 to enable new features in b20 - for example zoom that has already been merged into the nightlies.
I think that requires some evidence - i.e. a link to the post you refer. We are not voluntarily incompatible to anything, but Widelands moves along and we only have access to a limited amount of systems. We also continue adding features that might change requirements (in b19 for example OpenGL 2.1, which is ~10 years old) and do not keep support for everything around. We try though.... Top Quote |

If you have some disk space but no access to 64-bit hardware, maybe you could set up a dual-boot with Linux? Ubuntu and Linux Mint are really easy to install these days, and you can do a test run directly off a DVD before installing anything. Edited: 2016-11-15, 21:12

Why are you going back to 1362, which is the b19 rc? And don't make the 32/64bit Diskussion a Windows XP discussion, these are two completely different topics. We have a official 64bit Build which runs fine on Windows 7/8/10 64bit. We have unofficial 32bit builds which run fine on Windows 7/8/10 32bit. We do not have any recent builds for Windows XP, because:

In that case please don’t complain when new games aren’t playable on such an old system. If it runs: good for you. If not: new games don’t HAVE to run on any old system there is. I guess you know that. Widelands runs perfectly well on several other systems and I would be surprised if you don’t have any of them. So there’s no really need to run it on XP, is it? Two is the oddest prime. Top Quote |
