He always builds a ship on one spot out of the whole coast that's within the work area of the yard. It would be better if he choose a random spot along the coast instead so that if there is a terrain feature that might trap a built ship it can eventually be overcome.

Actually the ship builder does exactly what you suggest. I'm wondering why yours always chooses the same spot...

So do I! It's not as if there wasn't enough coast, it was on a peninsula sticking out in the sea, massive coast space yet he built all 4 ships in the spot where they would be trapped...
