Hello, first, I want to thank the people responsible for creating this game. It brings me back zhe joy of childhood days playing settlers 2. The functional enhancements over the original game are really beneficial and increase the fun. Now to my question/issue: This weekend I have played a round of widelands für about 5 h. After about 4 h, the game started to crash every few minutes, but I could continue to play and save every few minutes manually. After 5 h however, the last savegame file I open leads to a complete crash of the game after about 20 s, no matter what I do. I think some event in the game not directly related to my gameplay is leading to this crash Is there a way to somehow "repair" the savegame or can I at least get some kind of crash report, so the bug can be fixed for newer releases? Thanks in advance, Pascal Top Quote |

Hello Pascal and welcome to the forum Please file a bug report at our bugtracker and attach your last savegame, so we can investigate and fix the issue. Also include information about your operating system in case the bug is system-dependent. If you want to look at the crash yourself, you can use a debugging tool like gdb. Just run widelands in gdb, and when it crashes, type
That depends on the nature of the crash. I can answer this question after I looked at the savegame… Top Quote |

@Pascal: Which version of Widelands do you use - build19? And is it a seafaring map? Wanted to save the world, then I got widetracked Top Quote |

Thank you. I have filed the bug at: https://bugs.launchpad.net/widelands/+bug/1826727 I am not much of a computer expert, took me long enough to actually find the savegame file on my disk
Yes, it is. Top Quote |

Pascal, what happens if you load the second last save game? Does this crash the game as well? I'd recommand that you use the release candidate, though. It is very close to the final build (99,99999%): https://launchpad.net/widelands/+download Save games are not compatible though. Top Quote |

Okay... the map "The Nile" crashes often with build19 because of a bug: If a port gets finished and if foreign territory is very close to it, the game just crashes. However, I don't have b19 installed right now, so I cannot check the details of your match. By the way, the bug has been fixed in version rc20. Just for information in windows you get a log in stdout.txt. in b19 this is written to the game folder (if user has write permissions) in b20 this has moved to Username/.widelands folder. Top Quote |

I do not think that reporting crashes for Build 19 will be beneficial at this time, because we have fixed a lot of crashes since then. You can get a release candidate for Build 20 from the download page, but the savegames will not be compatible with Build 19. Busy indexing nil values Top Quote |

It will run until about the same moment and also crash.
Ok, I will do that. Actually I tried RC20, but reinstalled 19 because of the incompatiblity. I will switch back to 20 as the savegame is lost anyhow. I have added stdout.txt to the bugreport: https://bugs.launchpad.net/widelands/+bug/1826727 Edited: 2019-04-28, 19:38

Thanks for the bug report! The crash is very likely already fixed in Build 20. Busy indexing nil values Top Quote |
