I'm currently try to unify the win conditions. E.g. have the status message every 30 minutes, check_for defeated players every 5 seconds, etc. Currently in Territorial (Time & Lord) and Collectors, the status messages are set as popup messages while in Wood Gnome and Artifacts they are not.

I think it should be the same for all winning conditions. I myself find it very annoying have the window popup every 30 minutes and every 5 Minutes during the last 30 Minutes. Therefore I'd like to change this and make them not pop up.

What do you guys think?

One additional question. Currently the remaining time is reported in hours and minutes in Collectors mode and in minutes only in Territorial and Wood Gnome. Which one should be used?

+1 removing the popup every 5 Minutes during the last 30 minutes. Maybe every 10 minutes would be good? So we have 2 popups instead of 5 before the final message: 20 minutes and 10 minutes.

For the remaining time i would prefer hours and minutes, where the last hour is shown as 60 minutes.

My current implementation (at the moment only for Collectors & Wood Gnome).

Time Status Popup Remaining
30 min yes no 3 hours 30 minutes
60 min yes yes 3 hours
90 min yes no 2 hours 30 minutes
120 min yes yes 2 hours
150 min yes no 1 hour 30 minutes
180 min yes yes 60 minutes
210 min yes yes 30 minutes
215 min yes no 25 minutes
220 min yes yes 20 minutes
225 min yes no 15 minutes
230 min yes yes 10 minutes
235 min yes no 5 minutes
240 min no* no -

[*] This will be the "You won/lost" - message.

Now that I got a little cosy with Territorial, I think we need to rethink the way notifications are handled there.

I adapted it to the above scheme for normal notifications, but the messages when a player owns >50% are a little weird.

First of all a message is displayed every 5 minutes. Should we leave it like this, or should we send a message every 5 minutes, but only pop-up at the 20 minutes mark and then again at then 10 minutes mark?

Also the two notifications interfere with each other. Which can be very annoying. Lets say a player has reached the 50% mark 25 minute before the game ends. We then have the following message scheme:

Time Message Notification
3:30 The game ends in 30 minutes. yes
3:35 The game ends in 25 minutes. no
3:35 50% The game ends in 20 minutes yes
3:40 The game ends ins 20 minutes. yes
3:40 50% The game ends in 15 minutes yes
3:45 The game ends in 15 minutes. no
3:45 50% The game ends in 10 minutes yes
3:50 The game ends in 10 minutes yes
3:50 50% The game ends in 5 minutes yes
3:55 The game ends in 5 minutes no
3:55 You won lost/ since the 20 minutes are over x

If we only send a pop-up every 10 minutes it would look like this:

Time Message Notification
3:30 The game ends in 30 minutes. yes
3:35 The game ends in 25 minutes. no
3:35 50% The game ends in 20 minutes yes
3:40 The game ends ins 20 minutes. yes
3:40 50% The game ends in 15 minutes no
3:45 The game ends in 15 minutes. no
3:45 50% The game ends in 10 minutes yes
3:50 The game ends in 10 minutes yes
3:50 50% The game ends in 5 minutes no
3:55 The game ends in 5 minutes no
3:55 You won lost/ since the 20 minutes are over x

But I think these are still way to many messages; ideally it would lokk like this:

Time Message Notification
3:30 The game ends in 30 minutes. yes
3:35(*) The game ends in 25 minutes. no
3:35 50% The game ends in 20 minutes yes
3:40 50% The game ends in 15 minutes no
3:45 50% The game ends in 10 minutes yes
3:50 50% The game ends in 5 minutes no
3:55 You won lost/ since the 20 minutes are over x

(*) This on could still appear when the 50% mark was hit at the same time or just one second after.

So, as soon as someone hits the 50% mark the normal messages should not be shown, unless for some reason the player looses some fields and falls under the 50% mark.

I also think it doesn't make much sense to show the remaining time. The current message looks like this:

You have 50% of the land. Keep it for 20 minutes to win.

Otherwise the game will end in 123 minutes.

The second sentence does not make much sense in this context. Because the game will either end in 20 minutes or the other faction is able to gain more then 50% and the 20 minutes timer is started again, except when the time left is less then 20 minutes.

It is very unlikely that someone will lose its 50 % while the other faction still has less then 50%. If this happens then a normal message should be send, with the remaining time.

It would look like this in case the winner changes:

Time Message Notification
1:30 The game ends in 2 hours 30 minutes. no
1:35 50% The game ends in 20 minutes yes
1:40 50% The game ends in 15 minutes no
1:45 NEW WINNER: 50% The game ends in 20 minutes yes
1:50 50% The game ends in 15 minutes no
1:55 50% The game ends in 10 minutes yes
2:00 50% The game ends in 5 minutes no
2:05 You won lost/ since the 20 minutes are over x

If the winner changes but no new winner/candidate is available:

Time Message Notification
1:30 The game ends in 2hours 30 minutes. no
1:35 50% The game ends in 20 minutes yes
1:40 50% The game ends in 15 minutes no
1:40 NO 50% ANYMORE: The game ends in 2 hours 20 minutes yes

If the winner/candidate changes within the last 20 minutes:

Time Message Notification
3:30 The game ends in 35 minutes. no
3:35 50% The game ends in 20 minutes yes
3:40 50% The game ends in 15 minutes no
3:45 50% The game ends in 10 minutes yes
3:50 NEW WINNER: The game ends in 10 minutes yes
3:55 The game ends in 5 minutes no
4:00 You won lost/ since the 4 hours are over x

I wonder if one could remove the popups completely. Maybe yes, because now we have a clock in the game. Or wouldn't that be the best solution?

I think that hours and minutes is better

I cannot confirm that. Imagine a match with more than 2 factions. Then it will not be very unlikely but very likely.

Or even with two factions: Imagine that faction A focusses on gaining land, while faction B doesn't gain much land but military power. If faction A receives 50%, faction B would attack and take some land, and faction A could lose the 50% mark faster than faction B would reach it.

But you have many good ideas face-smile.png

I have taken this into account now. For both, territorial time and territorial lord.

Thanks allot face-smile.png
