This change is now in trunk. I'm not planning to tweak the graphics further for Build 20, but if somebody else wants to have a try, please do be my guest face-smile.png

The configuration is in data/templates, and I have uploaded the source files for the new backgrounds to the media repository

Yes, it's nice, but i think it doesn't fit with the widelands style. It's too realistic. Maybe make it a bit comic like?

I've no problem with realism myself, especially since Widelands' intro screen has a photo as well.

I'm a mere programmer, so my media skills are very limited. Here is a cartoonizing effort:

The introductory screen photo is old and too small and needs replacing with some art that fits the Widelands in-game style, so that's not a guideline to go by.

I like your idea, but it needs refining. Limited graphical skill is also something that I struggle with. You also need to take care that the text is still readable. Finally, it needs to be tileable.

I like the green/plants theme, but it dont think this represents the game very well.

Sorry, but comic-like also doesn't fit our style - the game's graphics aren't comic-like anywhere else.

Also, be careful about having light colors in the background - it makes the text very hard to read. We really need a dark background with a bit of edge decoration.
