Is it possible to set the (default) winning condition in the map editor?

You could change your general default winning condition:

Open the folder "data/scripting/win_conditions" and the file "init.lua". There you could sort the win conditions as you prefer it. At least this works in the current development version.

That will work with Build 19 too, but not with Build 18.

Speter, it is good to know that somebody was creating Settlers II maps. I had only standard S2 version, not "gold edition", so I was playing only official maps.

After finding out that in Widelands I can play some S2 maps, I tried my favourite: "Through the desert", but the map is not suitable for Widelands. Why? Lack of mining stones for some players. I think you should know that Widelands has very similar engine and physic to Settlers II, but it is not the same. So please check if your old maps are playable in this game. If so - I will be happy face-smile.png .

Yes, you are correct. Many (most?) of my S2 maps did not have 'stones' as ore. Also, they don't appear to have water or fish. I think I read in one of the threads that the lack of water isn't a problem. The lack of fish (& stones as ore) would certainly be a problem for the Altanteans.

Can someone confirm whether (the lack of) water is a problem!?

It's no problem, because wells will still work at 65% productivity if there is no water left.

I think SPeter means water with fish in it, not water dug up by a well.

Yes, Atlanteans need a basic fish supply so that they can start breeding fish, because they have no way to regenerate meat resources. They also need to build Crystal mines to get precious stones - quarries won't do it.

No, I did actually did mean applying the "water" resource on land, so players can build wells. face-smile.png

This reminds me at the fact that crystal mines are bugged. If they don't find any resources, their probability to produce quartz or diamond is far less than the desired 5%.
